European mistletoe is among the most extensively studied complementary cancer therapies and has a longstanding history of use in European oncology. It is most commonly administered via subcutaneous injection and, in some cases, intravenously under clinical supervision.
Research has investigated the potential effects of mistletoe on immune signaling, treatment-related symptoms, and quality of life. However, results remain inconclusive, and many studies exhibit methodological limitations. Mistletoe should be presented as a complementary therapy rather than as a substitute for conventional cancer care. It is not approved by the FDA for the treatment of cancer or any other medical condition in the United States (National Cancer Institute).
